I have translated the German Theme How to (#1) into English. You can get it here English Theme Tutorial.
This is a rough translation, and any corrections are appreciated.

Nice and great work. But don't forget. The german Howtos for themebuilding are very old.

on that note, I just finished a (not exactly rough) translation of the German howtos.
Knowing that they might be outdated, it can nevertheless be a kind of working base for further elaborations  ... umm take it as a challenging invitation.
This E-lang page really needs some more work on the translation level - any volunteers? - I'd prefer to do corrections on existing translations instead of biting the dust out here.

I'd be glad to help with translation... I do not speak German, but use translation tool to translate the comments... It spits out rough translation, and then I make sense of it and edit to fit. Was doing this for my use, so I could understand how themes work, but hopefully it can help others
