Hi
I am completely new to this and forums. I was wondering if you have to have a forum for openphpnuke to work? and if so, which?

Thanks

Hi,

I am not sure if I did understand your question correctly: Yes, OPN has a forum. We are using it while you read this thread. The developers decided to write their own forum because of security reasons, the user rights management and some other things.

OpenPHPNuke is 100% modular, so the forum is just a module in OPN, same thing as the other functions are.

Thank you for your reply. What I meant was does openPHPNuke need the forum to operate? Will it work without the forum?
I'm guessing from what you said there, that it will still operate and function without the forum. ie. I can post articles, without the forum.

Thank you.

Yes, you are right. You donīt need the forum to run OPN. Thats the reason you can download a core system, a full system and each module --> you can build the system as you need it. The system can grow with your needs: begin with a small webpage and then after some time add the functions you require.
(An other way is to take a full Installation and delete the unwanted modules )

Be aware, you don't need to fiddle around with installing: Take the desired module, upload it on your webspace in the specified directory and OPN will automatically detect the new module and shows it in admin. Goto Admin --> module and you see the new module. Click on the module and installation starts. Nothing more to do, no more inputs necessary.

There are even tricks to get the core system smaller

Don't hurry, give yourself some time to read the info provided at this page, perhaps a cup of coffee will be a good idea.

The currently newest article tells you were to find the newest download. Read the article here: OpenPHPNuke 2.1.0 Release available or have a look at the startpage ( Home).

In the article there is a note:

Quote:
To download the files you must be registered and logged in!

--> do it

Then the road is free to download

There are different packages available. If you have enough bandwidth then try the full package.

Tell me if there are any problems and happy download

A, yes, you are right, itīs the german site of openphpnuke..but it doesnīt matter. The download files are containing the english language.

Download the file, e.g if you want a zip, so choose openphpnuke-2.1.0-full.zip. In the installer you are asked for the language, coose english and opn will talk english.

BTW, did your download work? Do you plan to install local for testing?

manne

add: the english downloads should now be available via download section here via the download button at top of this page and the links in our article should now be correct.
Thanks Alk

Manne,

I have a problem.
Firstly, the Install.txt says:
Quote:
Point your browser to:

      http://yourdomain.de/install.php

Well, I tried to find it there, but I couldn't. Instead I found it in:
http://yourdomain.de/html/install.php
That seems to be the correct one, however, it's all in German! So I'm wondering if I have the correct install.php or if I have to do something else??

Thanks.
